PJ Livesey Homes has applied to Manchester City Council seeking consent for the demolition of Graeme House, Chorlton Precinct shopping complex, and several surface-level car parks.
Demolitionist S J Walchester has compiled a site management plan and is expecting to start work on 6 January provided permission is granted.
The demolition and remediation of the site are expected to be complete after 20 weeks of work.
CBRE is acting as the planning agent on PJ Livesey Homes’s behalf.
The 3.2-acre site is expected to be redeveloped post-demolition. Place North West reported in 2023 that plans for a mixed-use 200-home development have been put forward.
Apartments above retail units and public open spaces, designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and landscape architect Randall Thorp, are expected to replace the buildings that have stood since 1981.
