Spirits distributor Mangrove Global will distribute Cincoro Tequila, co-owned by Michael Jordan, in the UK.
The expansion by Cincoro into the British market comes after Tequila and mezcal was named the ‘fastest-growing spirits category‘ in the UK, growing by 9.1% at the end of 2023.
Mangrove Global MD Nick Gillett said: “Interest in Tequila in the UK continues to grow at pace, particularly at the premium end of the market, focusing on quality, pure flavours, sustainable practices and an engaging backstory.
“We are delighted to welcome multi-award-winning Cincoro Tequila to Mangrove Global in the UK. Backed by global sporting legends, the brand offers five ultra-smooth expressions all uniquely using 100% Blue Weber Agave from both highland and lowland appellations of Jalisco, and embraces the UK consumer trend to sip, savour and share.”
Cincoro Tequila was launched in 2019 by five NBA legends: Jeanie Buss of the Los Angeles Lakers, Wes Edens of the Milwaukee Bucks, Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck of the Boston Celtics, and Michael Jordan.
The co-founders spent nearly three years creating the brand and, in the process, created and tasted more than 1,000 different Tequilas before perfecting the Cincoro taste profile.
All of the brand’s Tequilas begin as Cincoro Blanco and are then aged in Tennessee whiskey barrels. Three of the brand’s expressions – blanco, reposado and añejo – are now available in the UK via Amazon, retailing between £90 and £150 (US$117-US$195).
International Cincoro managing director Quentin Job said: “Mangrove Global is a leader in super-premium spirits in the UK market, and we’re thrilled to partner with them to bring Cincoro’s smooth and delicious Tequila to discerning British drinkers. From the agave fields to the bottle design, greatness is woven into every aspect of the Cincoro experience. Our collaboration with Mangrove Global ensures that Cincoro will be sipped and savoured by locals and international tourists visiting the UK.”
Cincoro Tequila recently announced new additions to Team Cincoro. New co-owners include former professional tennis player Serena Williams, former baseball player Derek Jeter, golf champions Dustin Johnson and Keegan Bradley, and DraftKings co-founders Jason Robins, Matt Kalish and Paul Liberman, among others.
Cincoro joins Mangrove’s portfolio of brands, including Kiefer Sutherland’s Red Bank Canadian whisky, which launched in the UK in May.
Earlier this month, Mangrove Global shared its predictions for the trends that will capture the attention of UK drinkers in the next six months.
