Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has told the Turkish media they are looking at alternatives if they fail to re-sign Southampton forward Paul Onuachu.
In recent weeks the Nigeria international has been linked with a return to the Super Lig side after impressing whilst on loan with them last season.
Southampton have reportedly dropped the asking price to €10m, but at this stage the Turkish side aren’t prepared to pay this.
Turkiye Gazetesi have reported on comments made by Doğan when he was asked about developments regarding the Southampton player.
“He reiterated that he wanted to stay. His club slowly came down with the figure. Hopefully, we want to finish this work next week. The process is progressing positively, but if not, there is a plan B,” said the Trabzonspor chief.
According to the Turkish media outlet, Trabzonspor are considering AC Milan forward Divock Origi as a back up plan if they don’t sign Onuachu. The Belgian forward is expected to leave the San Siro this summer after failing to make an impact since his arrival.
Onuachu made 25 appearances last season Trabzonspor, scoring an impressive 17 goals. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
