Coleen Rooney has revealed her fashion secrets – including her biggest wardrobe regret. In an interview with the Sunday Times, Coleen, 38, went through her fashion highs and lows, and talked about how what she does when she’s getting ready to go out. She also revealed the first item of clothing she spent her own money on.

The mum-of-four said the first item she bought was a denim skirt at a market in Liverpool. She said: “I remember all my older cousins having one but my mum wouldn’t buy me one because she said they looked cheap.” Coleen, who was brought up in Croxteth, said she wore the skirt with a pair of green clogs.

In the interview, Coleen admitted to having “too many” bikinis. She said she doesn’t know how many bikinis she has in total, but claims to have a Missoni brand one dating from 20 years ago.

The last item Coleen bought was a black Zara midi dress, which she says is long on her “because I’m so short”. She said she saw her sister-in-law wearing the same dress and it “looked so lovely that I copied her”.

Coleen loves dressing up, and listens to Michael Jackson’s ‘The Way You Make Me Feel when she’s getting ready to go out. But she’s also happy to go for a more casual look day-to-day. She said she’s “constantly in trainers”, with Asics and New Balance being her favourite brands, and only occasionally wears heels these days. On date nights with Wayne she opts for “jeans, flats and a fine knit”.

On the school run, she wears gymwear – “plain leggings, trainers and hoodies from Varley, Adanola or Sweaty Betty”. Coleen explained: “I would like to be more glam but it’s not practical”, adding, “I do enjoy getting dressed up for a black-tie event — they are quite rare nowadays”.

Even the best dressers have their regrets, and Coleen freely admits to making one fashion faux pas. Asked which of her outfits would go if she could turn back the fashion clock, she said it would be her Marc Jacobs moon boots. “Wearing ski boots when it’s not snowing or not in a ski resort is just a no-no, isn’t it?” said Coleen.
