Conor McGregor Provides Recovery Update Ahead of UFC Return

Must read

“Notorious” Conor McGregor has taken to social media to provide an exciting update on his UFC return

Irish MMA legend Conor McGregor was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on International Fight Week—a fight long in the making which was canceled a week before the expected date under much suspicion.

After a three-year hiatus through injury, it arose that McGregor had broken his toe. Following the cancellation “Notorious” shared a photo on X of his foot showing a heavily bruised pinky toe.

This was a devastating setback for him and fans alike as his return to action was extremely anticipated. McGregor hadn’t fought since UFC 264 in 2021 when he broke his leg at the end of the first round against Dustin Poirier.

Many speculated when, if ever the Irishman will return to competition. Thanks to his latest post on X, it would seem he is good to go.

Furthermore, in a jab at future foe Michael Chandler, Conor McGregor posted:

“Hey bum beggar. The foot is fully healed”.

This update will relieve fans that the return of the Mac is on the cards. Without a win since his 2021 KO of Donald Cerrone, ‘The Notorious’ will be keen to get back to his winning ways.

In an interview with ESPN, McGregor confirmed he is looking to fight by the end of the year. He said:

“My comeback is scheduled for the end of the year,” McGregor said. “Sometime the end of this year, closing out the show. So, I was close to returning. We had an incident and a postponement had to happen, you know, it is what it is. We take it on the chin and rock on.”

He went on to confirm that Michael Chandler remains his opponent:

“The fight [with Michael Chandler] is rescheduled for the end of this calendar year,” McGregor explained. “So, I’m excited about that and eager to get back.”

All parties; McGregor, Chandler, the UFC, and fans alike will be excited by this news. After such an injury-riddled UFC 303 the company will be hoping to put an end to the repeat cancellations.

But will the former two-division champion return in the same form as old? Hopefully, we get to find out before the year’s end.
