The charming city of Bath has been named the UK’s top destination for an autumn weekend break, according to a study by Premier Inn.

Known for its stunning  Georgian architecture and rich history, Bath offers an idyllic escape in autumn, with the vibrant colors of the season adding to its natural and architectural beauty.

Located in Somerset in the south-west of England, Bath is not only a popular tourist destination but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its Roman roots and elegant Georgian design.

The study revealed that Bath’s picturesque setting captivated participants, with viewers lingering on images of the city for an average of 1.74 seconds, longer than any other UK destination.

While Bath is famously popular in winter for its Christmas market, the city shines equally as brightly in autumn, offering a more peaceful atmosphere before the holiday season rush.

During the autumn months, Bath transforms into a cozy retreat, perfect for a relaxing weekend break.

The city’s parks and gardens, such as Royal Victoria Park and the Bath Skyline, come alive with the reds, oranges, and yellows of falling leaves, offering scenic walks and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

The Pulteney Bridge, one of Bath’s most iconic landmarks, looks particularly stunning framed by autumn foliage, making it a must-visit spot for photography enthusiasts.

Visitors can also take in the city’s rich history by exploring the Roman Baths, which are even more atmospheric on crisp autumn days when the steam rises from the hot spring waters.

For culture lovers, Bath Abbey and the Holburne Museum are perfect indoor options, offering fascinating insights into the city’s history and artistic heritage.

Autumn is also the season for literary festivals, and Bath, the home of Jane Austen, hosts the Bath Children’s Literature Festival, the largest of its kind in Europe, as well as other cultural events that attract visitors from across the UK.

Bath wasn’t the only city to shine in Premier Inn’s study.
