Two social media influencers were left gobsmacked after their beach club bill in Ibiza exceeded the cost of their flights there.
Federica and Giuseppe, known as My Trip to Naples (@ilmioviaggioanapoli) on social media, couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the total on their receipt.
The Italian pair had chosen the upscale Cala Bassa Beach Club on Sant Josep beach for their day of luxury.
Their extravagant outing ended up costing them more than €400 (£344), which included €40 (£34) for sunbeds, €160 (£137) on champagne, and a further €200 (£172) spent on gourmet bites.
Their TikTok video showcasing the lavish expenditure went viral, amassing 723,000 views and more than 10,000 likes. The seafood paella and Iberian ham proved to be particularly pricey.
Despite their indulgence, the pair expressed shock at the end of the clip when they scrutinised the hefty bill, with Giuseppe remarking: “Something is wrong here, because I paid more to be here for a few hours than on the flight to visit the island.”
The comments section was inundated with users expressing their dismay.
“Exaggerated prices everywhere, travelling now is a luxury,” one said. Another wrote: “Thanks now I know where NOT to go.”
“The same place 10 years ago cost no more than €50,” another said. A fourth person revealed how they had decided to ditch a scheduled trip to the beach, writing: “I had booked but left! Obscene! The sunbeds all without sun and to take a dip you have to step on 100 people!”
However, others pointed out that you don’t need to spend big to enjoy the beaches in Ibiza. One comment read: “For those who complain, it is not compulsory to spend that money for a sunbed and umbrella, I have been to the same beach, right side with a towel on the sand.”
