The hub, initially introduced as part of Cumberland Council’s Coastal Programme, saw a halt in operations during the Covid pandemic.
However, an announcement confirms that the inclusive cycling sessions will resume, with the help of The Outdoor Partnership, Cyclewise, Cumbria Sports Academy, Wheels for All, Cumberland Council, and various volunteers.
The first re-launch event is to take place on Friday, August 23, between 1pm and 3pm.
Hosted at the CSA Stadium, participants can anticipate a variety of adapted bikes, including trikes, quads, recumbent, and side-to-side bikes, in addition to the standard two-wheel bicycles.
Attendees are encouraged to pre-book to ensure the availability of a bike and helmet for their session.
Pre-booking can be achieved via the Eventbrite website: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wheels-for-all-taster-event-tickets-983818015167
The event is open to experienced riders and beginners alike.
Each rider will have the added assurance of support throughout the session.
Friends and family members are also invited to join with no pre-booking necessary.
More event dates are already in the pipeline and are to be announced soon.
The Coastal Programme, funded by the government’s Coastal Communities Fund and Sellafield Ltd’s Six Social Impact multiplied programme, aims to strengthen the coastal destination offering in Cumbria for residents and visitors.
This also works toward improving the creation of sustainable employment by bringing attention to Cumbria’s less-travelled coastal areas.
As part of these efforts, infrastructure, art, and adventure in the region have seen improvements.
These include the introduction of new activities at Muncaster Castle, footpath and cycleway refurbishments at Eskdale Trail, public art installations at Whitehaven, Seascale, Silecroft and Millom, and enhancements in hospitality, such as the Silecroft beach café.
