Stansfield scored 12 goals in 43 appearances during a loan spell at Birmingham last season, but his goals could not keep the club in the Championship.

The striker then returned to haunt Birmingham in Tuesday’s League Cup tie, scoring the second goal in Fulham’s 2-0 victory at St. Andrews.

However, that will not be the last time that Stansfield will play at St. Andrews this season because has now completed a transfer to the League One side.

Financial details revealed: How much of Sterling’s wages will Arsenal pay?

Arsenal and Chelsea will reportedly split the cost of Raheem Sterling‘s wages during his loan spell at the Emirates Stadium.

Official confirmation has not yet arrived for the deal to take Sterling from the West of London to the North, but the agreement is understood to be completed after the clubs submitted a deal sheet to buy extra time beyond the 11pm transfer deadline.

An announcement is thought to be imminent, and details around the financial terms of the move have now begun to emerge.

BBC Sport‘s Nizaar Kinsella reports that Arsenal will not have to pay Chelsea a loan fee for Sterling, suggesting that the Gunners came out on top in negotiations during deadline day after any upfront cost proved to be a hurdle in the opening stages of talks.

Chelsea forward Deivid Washington is set to stay at Stamford Bridge after he saw two deadline-day moves fall through.

Washington, who joined Chelsea from Santos last summer, struggled for playing time in his first season in England, featuring in just three matches during the 2023-24 campaign.

As a result, the 19-year-old has been linked with a summer departure in a bid to gain valuable playing time elsewhere.

Early on Friday, it was reported that Washington was set to complete a move to Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg for around £18m.

Chelsea striker Armando Broja has reportedly been the subject of a late transfer approach from Everton, who have submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League to try to secure the Albanian’s signature.

The 22-year-old is one of several players to have been told that they are not in Enzo Maresca‘s plans at Chelsea, and a move to Ipswich Town was initially thought to be on the cards.

Broja’s proposed switch to Portman Road initially collapsed due to a failed medical, but Ipswich unexpectedly revived talks over a deal for the 22-year-old on transfer deadline day.

However, Ipswich and Chelsea ultimately could not reach an agreement over the striker’s transfer, and according to The Athletic, Everton have now made an eleventh-hour push to sign him.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has reportedly completed a permanent move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.

The Saudi Arabian club have worked on moves for Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, but they were only prepared to sign one marquee striker in the summer transfer window.

Osimhen had reportedly reached an agreement with Al-Ahli over a lucrative contract before Napoli increased their financial demands for the striker.

As a result, the Saudi Pro League side opted to walk away from negotiations and turn their full focus to securing Toney’s signature.

Chelsea have reportedly submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League in order to complete the loan-to-buy signing of Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

The Blues are understood to have struck a deal to sign the 24-year-old on loan for the 2024-25 season, which will become permanent for a reported £25m at the end of the campaign.

Sancho has already given the green light to Chelsea’s contract offer, but his move was not made official before the 11pm transfer deadline, meaning that the Blues would need to submit a deal sheet in order to get a transfer over the line.

The Premier League revealed on their X account that a total of nine deal sheets were submitted before the cut-off point, and according to Sky Sports News, Sancho is included on that list.

Announcement incoming? Sterling’s Arsenal move ‘is done’

Arsenal have reportedly reached a total agreement to sign Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea and are working to get their deadline-day documents over the line in time.

After a sensational swap deal involving Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho did not come to fruition, Sterling was instead linked with a surprise move to Arsenal in the last knockings of the window.

A deal was considered highly unlikely at the start of the day, due to Chelsea demanding a fee, Arsenal not being willing to dip into their war chest and Sterling struggling to negotiate his own exit from the Blues.

However, the two clubs reached an accord over a loan transfer late into the night, and according to Fabrizio Romano, a deal is now on the verge of completion after Sterling arrived at Arsenal’s training ground for a medical.

Fulham have reportedly turned their focus to signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson after their move for Lyon‘s Ernest Nuamah fell through.

The Cottagers are keen to strengthen their wide options following the departure of Willian and Bobby De Cordova-Reid earlier this summer.

Fulham have been working on a deal to sign Nuamah from French side Lyon on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Lyon were seemingly open to offloading the 20-year-old despite signing him on a permanent deal earlier this summer following last season’s loan spell at the Groupama Stadium.

The Argentina international failed to make the grade in North London following his arrival in 2019, initially on loan before his stay was made permanent at the end of that season.

With Lo Celso’s Tottenham deal due to expire in 2025, the midfielder was always expected to complete a transfer elsewhere this summer, and Spurs have now announced his return to La Liga.

We hadn’t been in a financial position in other windows to do it, when we were interested. It’s one that I thought we were going to miss out on, so I’m unbelievably excited to have him come and join us.

“He works hard, wins his tackles and picks up second balls. He’s physically good and we think he’ll thrive in the Premier League, similar to how Joao has. Our midfield now feels like a real strength of ours.

“I want the fans to be excited about it, but remember when Joao came across, he had six months to sit under Mario and Ruben and get used to the country and the Premier League with minutes off the bench. We’ve got to give players the time to settle.

“You can never have enough players that have won trophies. But it’s a player that we’re picking on the way up, he’s not coming to having won his trophies on the way down. He’s won trophies at a young age and he’s still on his way up and still wants to learn and grow and commit and be part of the project.”

Money matters: How much will Chelsea pay for Sancho?

Manchester United will reportedly receive £25m for exiled attacker Jadon Sancho when his move to Chelsea turns permanent in 2025.

Sancho has already given the green light to Chelsea’s contract offer, having reportedly had his heart set on joining Enzo Maresca‘s side after Juventus pulled out of the running this morning.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils – who were initially believed to be holding out for around £40m to let Sancho go this summer – are now set to accept just £25m for his services.

The soap opera is over! Osimhen ‘makes final transfer decision’

Napoli's Victor Osimhen celebrates scoring their first goal on February 21, 2024

    © Reuters

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly made a final decision on his future following a whirlwind deadline day transfer saga.

The Nigeria international has been tipped to end his Partenopei stint ever since finishing as the top scorer in the 2022-23 Serie A season, spearheading Napoli to the title with 26 top-flight goals.

Osimhen experienced a downturn in fortunes last season, but interest in his services did not dwindle, and Napoli tied him down to a new contract with a hefty £113m release clause.

However, that renewal was more about protecting the striker’s value than being indicative of where his long-term future lay, and president Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed earlier this summer that Osimhen wanted to leave.

Sterling played a prominent part in pre-season for the Blues before failing to be selected in their squad for the opening match of the Premier League campaign.

Despite patching up his relationship with Erik ten Hag after their memorable falling out last summer, the former Borussia Dortmund winger has not played any Premier League minutes for the Red Devils this season.

As a result, a permanent move away from Old Trafford was always expected to materialise, although a prospective switch to Juventus broke down earlier on deadline day when the Old Lady pulled out of negotiations.

Instead, Chelsea – who had also been heavily linked with an approach – ramped up talks over a late agreement, and according to Romano, the two parties have now finally reached a breakthrough.

With Sancho refusing to apologise to the Man United boss, the winger was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of last campaign.

The former England international featured on 21 occasions for the Bundesliga giants across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Chelsea are reportedly making progress in negotiations after revamping their offer to secure a deal for Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.

Sancho has been excluded from United’s squads for both of their Premier League games this season, and Chelsea’s interest in the winger gained traction earlier in the week.

“My whole family are Evertonians and it’s been great working with Jordan Pickford every day.

“Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a goalkeeper, diving around and getting muddy!

“It felt right to get out on loan now and I want to play as much as I can. Everton wanted me to play some games, there were a couple of clubs interested, including Accrington, and I was happy to come and hopefully I can help the team.

“As goalkeepers we all understand there is only one spot and we will push each other. Most of the time goalkeepers get on and understand how hard the position is. I just want to play as many minutes as I can.”

“As a player, I was supported fantastically well from the start, and then even more so during my stint as manager, before I felt even more love when I returned to playing.

“I have really enjoyed my time here, and made some great friends, but ultimately, people move on in football. The club is in fantastic hands, and I can only see success for it moving forward.

“Thank you to Ryan Sparks for everything he has done for me, professionally and personally, throughout my time here. He has been open and honest with me the whole time. It was a smooth transition into the player manager role, and has been the same since.

“Finally, thank you to all the staff and, in particular, all of the players who I have had the pleasure of sharing the dressing room with. The lads who were here last season understood my situation, and were absolutely bang on, throughout the whole process, as they have been as teammates.

The Blues are hopeful of finding a home for Raheem Sterling, who is not wanted by Enzo Maresca, and there are enough wingers in the squad where the England international would not necessarily need to be replaced.

Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

Over the past week, the two teams have each been frequently linked with players who represent the other side.

The Red Devils have been credited with an interest in Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling, the former no longer a target but the latter remaining on their radar.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are said to have made progress in their efforts to sign Jadon Sancho, despite Erik ten Hag claiming that the winger is more likely to stay at Old Trafford.

Oliver Glasner confirms Guehi future decided amid Newcastle, Liverpool links

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is set to remain at Selhurst Park beyond today’s transfer deadline despite interest from Newcastle United and Liverpool.

Guehi, who has two years left on his contract, was the target of four unsuccessful bids from Newcastle, including a recent offer believed to be worth up to £65m with add-ons.

The South London club already sold Joachim Andersen to Fulham, so losing Guehi as well would have created a major problem for them in defence.

Newcastle are expected to explore other options before the window closes at 11pm tonight, but they face a race against the clock to finalize a deal.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has suggested that Jadon Sancho will not be signing for Chelsea.

Earlier in the summer transfer window, Ten Hag and Sancho resolved their well-documented differences for the winger to return to the first-team squad.

The recent Borussia Dortmund loanee subsequently featured on a regular basis during pre-season, as well as making an appearance in the Community Shield.

However, Sancho played no part of the opening two Premier League fixtures against Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively, leading to renewed talk about his future.

Arsenal have been dealt a major injury setback with new £31m signing Mikel Merino suffering a shoulder injury in his first full training session with the squad.

The 28-year-old midfielder was a crucial part of Real Sociedad’s squad after joining the Basque side in 2018.

In the heart of La Real’s midfield, Merino made 242 appearances, scoring 27 goals and providing 30 assists, while he also starred for Spain in their European Championship triumph.

The Spaniard’s highly anticipated move from Real Sociedad was finalised earlier this week, and there were hopes he would debut against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Man United to be without Ugarte for Liverpool clash this weekend

Manuel Ugarte will not feature for Manchester United against Liverpool on Sunday, as the club have failed to register him in time.

Ugarte spent two seasons with Sporting until 2023, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising defensive midfielders before being snapped up by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Uruguayan has been United’s top target for the majority of the summer and the Red Devils finally managed to strike a deal with the Ligue 1 champions for his signature last week.

United have been active in the transfer market this summer, selling seven senior players and allowing four others to leave on free transfers.

    …and one arrival

Swindon have made their second signing of deadline day, with Dan Barden joining on loan from Norwich.

“I’m really excited to be here, it’s happened all quite quickly but excited to start the work for the team,” he told the club website.

“It happened pretty quickly when I was told Swindon were interested so I think where I was in my career, it was a move that made sense for me.

“This is an opportunity where after speaking with the Head Coach and the Goalkeeping Coach who have given me the chance to be involved in league football again.

“I want to be pushing for that number one spot in the league.”

Head of Football Jamie Russell added: “He’s come from Norwich and has experience of playing at Championship level, which is the kind of experience which is vital for the kind of player we’re looking for to come into the group.

“What makes Dan even more suited to how we want to set up this season is his mental strength and determination to get back playing and this is shown in the challenges he’s faced so far in his career.

“He sets himself a good standard of performance with his showings when he has played at Norwich but also with the likes of Maidstone when he spent time there and we feel he will bring the ideal level of competition for our current goalkeeping set-up.

“We also need to mention the work that our First-Team Goalkeeping Coach Steve Mildenhall (Mildy) has worked tirelessly to get Dan in and he’s one that he identified as someone who would be an ideal fit for the kind of goalkeeper we are after to fight for that number one spot.”

Saving grace: Ramsdale completes £25m Arsenal exit

Southampton have completed the signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal in a deal that could reach up to £25m.

The England international heads for the Emirates exit door following a mixed three years in North London, where he became Mikel Arteta‘s number one and helped transform the Gunners into serious title challengers.

However, Ramsdale was ruthlessly demoted to second choice behind David Raya last season, and following the Spaniard’s permanent arrival from Brentford, a parting of the ways was always expected to materialise this summer.

Southampton will reportedly pay an upfront fee of £18m for the 26-year-old, and Arsenal will receive another £1m if the Saints stay up this season, while another £6m can be banked through performance-related achievements.

Everton are reportedly closing in on signing highly-rated Belgian midfielder Orel Mangala on loan from Lyon.

After representing Belgium at various youth levels, Mangala made his senior international debut under Roberto Martinez in 2022 and has since earned 19 caps for his country.

The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the French club from Nottingham Forest, scoring twice in eight Ligue 1 appearances.

Lyon handed the Belgian a permanent contract last month and included a release clause that is believed to be in the region of £17m.
