Delta Unveils New Cabin Interior Across Its Fleet

Must read

New cabin design by UK brand experience studio NewTerritory enhances customer experience and showcases the future of flying with Delta. Debuting on a narrowbody Boeing 757 aircraft that will begin flying on domestic and short haul international routes later this fall, followed by a widebody Airbus A350 in early 2025.

Debuting this autumn, ahead of Delta’s centennial anniversary, the modern new design will bring substantial improvements to the airline’s aircraft interiors. From fresh seating materials, enhanced lighting and a renewed colour palette, to new decorative motifs and signature branding, every aspect of the cabin interior has been carefully planned and thoughtfully redesigned to elevate the travel experience.

Reimagining Delta’s Brand Experience

As Delta Air Lines’ Brand Experience partner, NewTerritory have redesigned the end-to-end customer experience for the largest airline in the world across off and onboard touchpoints, completing over 300 projects.

As part of the relationship, it partnered to design Delta’s new cabin interiors, where it has evolved cabins from nose to tail into a more domestic space while retaining brand legacy and heritage.

The new cabin design features an interior uniquely and intentionally designed to make Delta customers feel at home during their travels. Breathable materials, comfortable memory-foam cushions on widebody jets, and lighting that promotes relaxation will span the fleet.

Each design feature was carefully thought out with a focus on the details that matter most to customers. As always, Delta customers and employees are at the heart of everything; this nose-to-tail transformation of the cabin interior is based on extensive feedback and research to create a cabin experience that reflects customers’ changing expectations and lifestyles.

LIGHTING

Enhanced lighting programs have been intentionally designed to create a cohesive and calming onboard environment. With mood lighting designed to suit each phase of the flight, customers will feel well-grounded and better adjusted to their time zone.

BRAND COLORS & DESIGN ELEMENTS

Delta and NewTerritory brand experience studio reimagined how it uses its brand colours by leaning into a softer, warmer and more modern colour palette with natural materials such as wool and accents of Delta’s original heritage colours throughout. The design is fresh, clean and elegant and elevates key Delta brand elements.

Customers will feel more at home thanks to unique touches throughout the cabin, including thoughtful choices of materials at customer touchpoints as well as Delta widget logos and seat tags that create subtle distinctions between cabins.

Luke Miles, NewTerritory Founder says: “To survive and thrive, airlines must adopt a hospitality-first approach, where empathy and emotional comfort are reprioritised to mitigate the stresses of air travel. Just as we dine and sleep in a hotel, customers expect a similar level of care and comfort in the sky. We believe that airline interiors should complement the warmth and elegance of the domestic environment, offering a seamless transition into the end to end journey.

Which is why we are so pleased that our design for Delta’s new cabin interiors are out in the world. Delta operates 4,000 daily flights to more than 280 destinations on six continents, and we cannot wait to see and experience our newly created cabin interiors.*
