Denim Revival: London’s Street’s Reclaim an Iconic Fashion Trend

Must read

From jackets to bags to tops and even scarves – denim is everywhere.

What’s driving the denim renaissance?

There’s no doubt that denim has always been a staple in clothing and fashion, however in recent years the versatility of it has reached new heights.

London has perhaps time travelled back to the 1980’s where denim ruled the streets being the rebellious uniform of the city, from acid-washed jackets to high waisted jeans to dyed denim in every imaginable shade, no look was complete without it.

Yet the contrast in styling denim today compared to the past is significant, today we see denim as high fashion or as a more laid-back look, seamlessly transitioning from streetwear to runway.

However, the past year has brought a whole other dimension to denim in London.

In particular, double denim sets are now the new power suits of 2024, leaning to a more polished, tailored and bold style today.

Denim bags are refined with leather trims, intricate stitching and metallic details elevating denim into a feature of high fashion and steering away from the rebellious reputation they had in the 80’s.

The fashion world’s fascination with denim has even reached Netflix!

Recently, in the reality TV series ‘Next in Fashion’, the winner of the competition, Nigel Xavier’s collection was all around denim, where he used a variety of denim in patchwork designs to contrast the simple silhouettes of his pieces.

The denim resurgence in London is more than a throwback, it’s a reimagining of classic fabric with newfound sophistication.

Denim blends the nostalgia of the past with sharp and sustainable focus of today, proving once again why denim will always be timeless.
