EasyJet has cancelled more than half its flights from Portugal over a three-day period this month, including multiple services to and from the UK.
The airline has been forced to ground a total of 164 out of 308 services due to a planned walkout by cabin crew members of the National Civil Aviation Flight Staff Union (SNPVAC) from 15 to 17 August.
An easyJet UK spokesperson said: “We are sorry that, due to the unnecessary strike action planned by the SNPVAC union and in order to minimise the impact of the disruption on the day of travel for our customers, we have had to cancel some of the flights planned to operate during the period of the industrial action.
“We wanted to give customers as much notice as possible so they can make alternative plans and so all customers on affected flights have already been contacted directly with those affected by cancellations will be eligible for a refund or a free transfer to a new flight.
“We also advise customers travelling to and from Portugal on 15, 16 and 17 August to check the status of their flights on the easyJet Flight Tracker.”
SNPVAC claims to have the support of 99% of its members for a strike over labour issues, including staff shortages and increased working hours.
