England captain Marlie Packer has been a committed servant to her country, and the experienced flanker kickstarted the win over France with the opening try.

“I think we came out the blocks firing,” said Packer.

“France and had a good 10 minutes within that, but we just needed to make sure we stuck to our processes that we worked on over pre-season.

“It’s a lot of chaos but it is coming together and I’m super proud of all the girls.”

Victory over their Six Nations rivals launched England into a year that will culminate with a home World Cup next summer, and Packer said their next test needs no build-up.

“This is world number one against world champions,” said the 34-year-old.

“It doesn’t really get much better than that. If people haven’t got their tickets, they need to get them now because it’s going to be a physical encounter.

“Both packs will come alive and be electric. It’s one not to miss.”
