For those not quite ready to let go of summer, a last-minute autumn sun getaway may be just what you need.
So, Wizz Air has not only looked into which beaches are most and least crowded, but also researched average temperatures and daylight hours for September, October, and November to uncover the best-hidden spots for late-season sunshine.
To determine the most and least overcrowded beaches the low-budget airline analysed over 50 European countries and their top beaches.
They then used their travel expertise and a calculation that involved measuring the beach, dividing its area by the size of a beach towel, and then dividing that by the average number of daily visitors.
This gave an estimate of how much space each beach offers per person. Temperatures and beach space were then ranked, giving each destination an overall score of 50, with higher scores indicating better destinations.
By combining these insights with weather data, Wizz Air has revealed the ideal destinations that offer not only plenty of room to relax but also perfect conditions to extend your summer as long as possible.
András Rado, head of communications at Wizz Air said: “While many know Europe’s iconic beach spots like Ibiza or the Algarve, there are countless hidden coastal gems that often go unnoticed.
“At Wizz Air, we’re passionate about helping travellers discover these lesser-known treasures, from secluded coves in Croatia to sandy stretches in Albania, away from the crowds.”
