Exciting fashion show featuring recognised brands heading to Weymouth

Must read

The Wyke Smugglers pub will be the venue for the fashion show and pop-up shop on Friday, October 11 from 6.30pm.

The event is all in aid of a good cause and money raised from ticket sales will go direct to the Veterans Hub on Portland Road.

A selection of brands that will be on display and available to purchase on the evening include Marks & Spencer, Wallis, Mango, Zara, River Island, Oasis, DKNY, Crew Clothing, Camaieu, Naf Naf, Lipsy, Kendall & Kylie, New Look, Dunnes and many more. There will also be a large selection of leather bags.

Founder of the Veterans Hub Andy Price revealed that if they manage to sell at least 200 tickets then he will personally ‘get in a tutu and get on the catwalk’

He joked: “I will rock that catwalk.

“I think it will be a good crack and real good fun and this is a real fun way to raise money in the community.”

As well as a catwalk, there will also be a pop-up fashion shop with discounted clothing, as well as a raffle.

Donations are a lifeline to the hub which provides services for veterans, their families and people struggling with their mental health completely free of charge.

The Veterans Hub was set up around eight years ago as a community project, with the intent of providing a safe and secure location for veterans and their families to come together in an environment that would enable them to socialise in a non-clinical setting in order to provide peer to peer support for each other.

Mr Price said: “Donations make a massive difference and every penny helps. The service may be free, but we still need to pay the providers.

“We have seen a massive increase in people coming to us in need of support with their mental health and we envision that demand for our services will increase more.

“We are already considering how we may need to help our users with things like winter fuel payments.”

Tickets for the event are £6 and can be purchased at the Veterans Hub on Portland Road, or alternatively by emailing Rachel Gray: theveteranshubPA@outlook.com or Andy Price: theveteranshubweymouth@outlook.com
