The successful candidate will collaborate with various artists in a small, friendly team to plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of visual arts exhibitions and events in our gallery spaces. For larger exhibitions, professional curatorial support will be available.

This position requires a highly organised individual with a passion for the arts, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

This is a part-time role consisting of 20 hours per week for 12 months with the possibility of extension. We are open to requests for flexible working, but hours must be worked between Wednesday and Friday with some evening work. Some flexibility will also be required during exhibition weeks when it will be necessary for the successful candidate to work on Saturdays.

Job Requirements

Essential skills:

A passion for the arts and a commitment to the organisation’s mission.

Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google platforms.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Desirable:

Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to exhibitions.

Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).

Own transport

Experience working in a museum, gallery, or arts organisation and/or in events and exhibition planning.

Budget management.

Job Responsibilities

Assist with the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions. Liaise with artists, suppliers, and volunteers to coordinate logistics such as transportation, installation and collection of artworks. Maintain and prepare exhibition spaces, ensuring they are decorated, clean, safe, and welcoming. Conduct research, plan, and contribute to the future exhibitions programme, coordinating with other CAS Leads on programme development. Oversee and supervise volunteers and contractors where applicable, including the coordination of contracts. Serve as the lead invigilator, managing the invigilation schedule and providing visitor support during exhibition openings and events. Event Planning and Coordination Planning and execution of events, including lectures, and some community outreach programmes. Coordinate logistics of events such as venue setup, catering, audio-visual equipment, and transportation.
