Pizza Hut is closing its Quays Leisure Park site as the leisure park is being re-developed.

The last day the site will be open to the public will be Saturday September 14.

Odeon cinema, Hollywood Bowl are also closing.

The developers currently leading the Canada Water regeneration project announced the news on their website.

It reads: “With the new Tesco Extra supermarket and 384 new homes coming to Zone G of the Canada Water development, September will see the closure of Surrey Quays Leisure Park which includes the Odeon cinema, Hollywood Bowl and Pizza Hut.

“The redevelopment of the leisure park was approved by Southwark Council in early autumn last year.”

British Land added that this was agreed to ‘ensure they could remain open during the school summer holidays.’

The Canada Water Masterplan is well underway, with phase one of the project nearly complete.

Part of the plan will involve knocking down the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre and building a new town centre.

In May, British Land revealed the shopping centre would not be demolished until the new Tesco was built, which was not likely to be before 2028-2029.

The popular pizza chain is the UK’s second-largest pizza takeaway brand.

Papa Johns currently operates 524 locations in the UK, which are a mixture of owned stores and franchises.

The chain’s first British restaurant opened in 1999 in Gray’s in Essex and since then the brand has gone international.

In 2013 the popular pizza chain celebrated the opening of its 200th UK store.

Its biggest rival is Dominoes which operates at 1,253 locations.
