CBS Sports presenter Kate Abdo has got married to former boxer Malik Scott.
The 43-year-old, who hosts Champions League coverage in the United States, went public with her relationship with Scott in March this year.
And the couple have now tied the knot in an intimate ceremony, with Abdo pictured wearing an elegant white dress, while Scott, who is the trainer of American heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder, went for a black patterned suit.
In a post on Instagram announcing her marriage, Abdo wrote: ‘Thank you God for this gift. Thank you Malik King Scott for changing my life. For bringing love, happiness, fulfillment, peace and joy, all in abundance. It is my greatest blessing to be your wife.
‘I want to love, sing, dance and laugh with you forever.
‘A lifelong journey with you is everything I pray for. It’s you and our family always.’
In his announcement post, Scott wrote: ‘Proverbs 31:10-12…Thank you God. My Vows will be lived out until the end of my time.
‘Kate Abdo, happy birthday baby. The most perfect day of my life was our wedding day.
‘Words cant describe how much I love you. Multiple days down and forever to go. #themostperfectdayofmylife.’
The news of Abdo’s wedding has led to jokes from fans at the expense of Thierry Henry.
Abdo and Henry have shared excellent chemistry on screen during CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage.
And that has resulted in viewers often joking that the former Arsenal striker, who is married to Andrea Rajacic, has a crush on the presenter.
Following Abdo and Scott’s announcement, fans immediately showed fake concern for France’s World Cup winner.
One user wrote on X: ‘Sending thoughts and prayers to Thierry Henry during this rough time.’
‘It’s not that she’s one of the best sports broadcasters, she’s one of the best human beings I’ve come across in this life,’ Scott told Lord Ping.
‘I’m very much in love with her and I plan on marrying her, so the thing that happened with Jamie, it’s a part of the job, but it’s not the first time he’s said something out the way like that, but it’s the first time he said something in reference to possibly disturbing a household or disturbing a couples chemistry.
‘It was a very minute thing, but her being irritated by it a little bit is what really got to me. Him just saying it and being that guy who always makes those picking at you jokes wasn’t really a big deal to me at all. It’s only a big deal if Kate is upset. If Kate gets upset then it’s a really big deal to me and I’ll give him a call and if he doesn’t pick up my call, then I’ll show up in a physical manner so we can talk like men, so that’s not something you should continue to do.
‘But I think Jamie apologised, not just to Kate but to the team, and one thing you can’t do is knock a man who admits he was wrong. In that regard I have high respect for him.’
Abdo subsequently revealed that Carragher apologised for his remark.
