All Ted Baker stores around the UK are to close in the next few weeks in a move which would add another vacancy to Belfast’s Victoria Square, according to reports.
The fashion chain operates a standalone store on the lower ground floor of the shopping centre and also has a concession in the Square’s House of Fraser department store.
No Ordinary Designer Label (NODL), the company which trades as Ted Baker, entered administration in March with the closure of 15 shops.
Now it’s been reported that its remaining 31 stores in the UK and Europe are to shut, meaning the loss of another major high street brand.
A source quoted by The Sun said the intention of the administrators was to close the stores, though it had not been confirmed.
A member of staff at the Belfast store confirmed that the shop would be closing but they didn’t know when.
The fashion company is offering 80% off its products online.
Lambert Smith Hampton, the letting agent at Victoria Square, said it had not been made aware of a decision to shut Ted Baker.
Last week, it emerged that outdoor-wear brand Craghoppers and fashion chain Tessuti are closing their stores at the shopping centre, weeks after H&M closed down due to relocation.
If the stores close, it will mean the disappearance of another well-known fashion brand from the high street. Karen Millen, Warehouse, Topshop and Cath Kidston have all closed down in recent years.
Administrators at business advisory firm Teneo have been asked for comment.
