Must read

When it comes to travelling, there is perhaps nobody who knows more than a flight attendant.

After all, they travel the world, visit all sorts of gorgeous destinations and also stay in some proper lovely hotels. All in all, this expands their knowledge a lot when it comes to the big dos and don’ts.

Demi Bonita is one flight attendant who documents her life and adventures on Instagram. She uses the social media platform to show what her life is really like, and she also shares some hints and tricks too.

Recently she revealed the first thing she does when she arrives at her hotel room following a day of flying. The video makes it clear there are two steps she considers vital before settling down.

In the candid clip, she admitted she always locks the door for security, and then she makes another important check. She lifts the sheets to check for bed bugs.

She also admits she carries out some basic tasks like changing her clothes, showering and preparing for the rest of her day. None the less, her first two rules tell us a lot about what we should all be doing when travelling.

The video has been viewed more than 1,700 times, and people were quick to comment too. Luckily, she clears up in the comments that she’s never had to encounter bed bugs before.

One person said: “Such a proud profession, performed with style in those beautiful suits.” Another added: “Nice video as always, Demi!”

A third also wrote: “I just wonder…you don’t take a walk in the town if it’s your first town? To sightsee?” Demi confirmed she does do this, but she just ensures the other jobs are done first.

When it comes to little known flight attendant secrets, various people have also made confessions on Reddit. It’s reported that airlines usually have dedicated “crew hotels”, which involves them having specific contracts with hotels near airports so staff often don’t get to pick out the hotels themselves.

Some also said cabin crew often have streamlined check-in processes with staff, which means they can access their rooms quickly when they arrive at a destination. It’s said the hotel quality can vary though, and this all depends on the airline and the location.

They can stay at both high end and basic facilities – lots of things factor into accomodation. In other words, the job may be a lot different to how you pictured it.
