Interest in ‘Flights to Paris’ soar 175% after Notre Dame reopening – travel expert urges visitors to be respectful

A new analysis by travel experts at Seine River Cruises, based on Google Trends data, has revealed a remarkable 175% increase in searches for the term “Flights to Paris” on the day of the highly anticipated reopening of the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral.

The surge in interest reflects visitors once again having the chance to explore one of France’s most treasured landmarks after a long restoration process.

Since the reopening on 7th December, Paris appears to have seen a significant boost in tourism, with travellers eager to return to the historic site that has been closed for nearly five years following a devastating fire in 2019.

The data suggests that not only has interest in the cathedral increased but so has the desire to visit the City of Lights, with many tourists now planning their trips to include a visit to Notre Dame as a central part of their itinerary.

However, experts advise travellers to exercise caution when visiting popular tourist sites like Notre Dame, predicting an influx of pickpockets.

Magdalena Petrusic, a travel expert from Seine River Cruises said: “When visiting a religious or culturally significant site like Notre Dame, it is essential to approach with respect for its historical and spiritual importance. Be mindful of local customs, avoid loud conversations, and dress appropriately to honour the sacredness of the space.

“Additionally, with the increase in foot traffic around Notre Dame, visitors should be vigilant about pickpocketing, as busy areas can attract opportunistic criminals. Always keep valuables secure and be cautious in crowded areas, especially during peak tourist seasons.”
