Free Birthday Bus travel is back across the West of England. Over 20,000 free journeys were taken during the first week of the offer: more than double the first week of Birthday Buses last year.
Residents can once again enjoy unlimited free bus travel throughout the month of their birthdays. If – like Dan Norris, the Mayor of the West of England – you’re born in January, apply before the end of the day on Sunday, 15 December, to ensure that your Birthday Bus pass arrives in time.
More than 35,000 people have now signed up for Birthday Buses, including over 10,000 brand-new users (almost three-in-ten). That means that almost half as many people are already registered for the scheme as took part in the whole of its first year. It’s also encouraging for the future of buses that more than one-in-eight people who have signed up so far are under the age of 21.
Mayor Dan Norris, who leads the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, said:
“In the first week of this year’s offer, we have already seen over 20,000 free journeys! People across the West of England are voting with their feet, signing up for their free month of bus travel.
