Track Metrics, an IT software consultancy business established in 2015 by Howard Barton, has opened new offices at Fairfield Mills in Milford Street, Huddersfield.

The opening ceremony was led by Megan Dudley, daughter of the late Matt Dudley, Howard’s business partner.

Initially based in Hebden Bridge, Track Metrics moved to Huddersfield in 2020, the same year they experienced the loss of Matt Dudley, 32, to cancer.

In 2017, Track Metrics started developing MyPrintStreet, a groundbreaking product for the printing industry, which has since become a staple offering under the brand.

In 2020, they expanded their consultancy team, focusing on the Telematics and Internet of Things (IoT) markets.

This shift in direction has paid off, as the company is currently experiencing robust growth, with projections indicating a turnover more than double that of the previous year.

Track Metrics currently employs 11 people and sub-contracts to five consultants. It has plans to hire additional employees to support its ongoing expansion.

The move to new offices within Fairfield Mills underlines the company’s upward trajectory and commitment to fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Mirfield bed manufacturer Kelcol has won two national business awards, one recognising the business’s sustainability initiatives and the other celebrating the leadership skills of managing director Amy Wheeler.

The company, which has been manufacturing beds for 45 years and has a 30-strong team, entered the sustainability category of the UK Business Awards having strengthened its initiatives in this area after joining the National Bed Federation (NBF) a year ago.

With its commitment to setting the standard by driving ethics, transparency and responsibility within the UK bed industry, the trade body actively encourages and supports members to move towards a sustainable future.

Kelcol has implemented a number of measures including installing LED lighting across the factory and introducing an energy-efficient heating system as well as reducing waste as much as possible by using recycling programmes and sustainable packaging solutions.

Kelcol’s managing director Amy Wheeler, who joined the company as a sales administrator when she was just 19 years old, was also chosen from 20 finalists as the winner of the Young Businesswoman of the Year award.

The judges were impressed that the manufacturing business had a predominantly female-led management team and by its focus on fostering relationships with staff as well as its customers.

“We were really pleased to have been shortlisted in two categories of these prestigious UK-wide business awards, so to be named as overall winners is an amazing achievement,” said Amy.

Manufacturing more than 11,000 beds and sprung mattresses a year under the Kelcol Bed Company and Sleepwell brands, the company supplies around 150 retailers across the UK. It focuses on quality materials and uses traditional techniques.

Eighteen 5-star reviews in 12 months have resulted in a family-run homecare company in Huddersfield being named as one of the top 20 recommended providers in the Yorkshire and Humber region – for the third consecutive year.

Caremark Kirklees has once again made the much sought-after list compiled by homecare.co.uk – the UK’s leading homecare reviews website.

The annual awards recognise 20 of the top-rated homecare providers in each region of the UK based on reviews from customers, families and friends.

In 2023/2024, every review submitted for Caremark Kirklees, which is run by husband and wife team Duncan and Fiona Smith, was a perfect one, giving the company a final review score of 10 out of 10.

Caremark Kirklees director Fiona Smith said: “We are delighted to have once again achieved this award, which is so special because it is based purely on the reviews of the people we provide care for across Kirklees.

“It demonstrates the amazing job our care assistants do, day in and day out, to help people remain living as independently as possible in their own homes.

“We have an excellent relationship with our customers and their families, and we would like to thank them for their continued support over the last 12 months.”
