This was reported by The Guardian.

McFadden highlighted the risks, stating that artificial intelligence “could be weaponised against us.” He stressed that the UK is already living the “daily reality of a cyberwar,” with Russia among the key players behind hacking attempts.

He added that over the past year, Russian hackers and cybercriminals have “stepped up their attacks” on the UK and other NATO allies aiding Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

McFadden also announced the launch of the London AI Safety Research Labs (LASR), a program aimed at identifying and countering emerging threats. He cautioned that Russia might attempt to disable critical systems, like the power grid.

The report noted that while a traditional military attack on a NATO member remains unlikely, cyberattacks, particularly on energy infrastructure, pose a significant threat.

  • Meanwhile, unidentified drones were spotted over three U.S. Army airbases in the UK.
