There is no greater experience than watching the sunset over the sea on a Greek island, and luckily it does not have to cost a fortune to travel there.

The consumer champion Which? has recently compared thousands of holiday prices to discover what the best bargains are for anyone wishing to visit Greece this year.

They looked at the average price of a seven-night holiday and discovered that the most affordable island to travel to not only costs less than £850 but is also the cheapest package holiday destination in the whole of Europe.

However, many of these stunning Greek islands are worth exploring and some of them are not well known so you have fun relaxing in the sun while also avoiding the crowds.

Here are the 10 cheapest Greek islands for a package holiday for 2024 so you can spend your summer holiday without worrying about prices.

10. Corfu – £1,154

Corfu is a charming island on the northwest coast of Greece known for its unique architecture that has been strongly influenced by France, England and Venice in Italy. 

It is the perfect place for a romantic getaway as there is plenty to do in Corfu, but is best visited in summer as it is sunny around 12 hours a day and has become famous for its magnificent sunsets best seen from Pelekas, a cliffside village. 

This brilliant island is also famous for Kumquatm a small golden orange citrus fruit which has been turned into a tasty liquor which is often used on the island’s desserts, candies and other sweets.

Alonissos is the best place to visit for photographers and natural lovers as it is renowned for its natural beauty due to its lush pine forests, golden beaches and cliffside views. 

One of the best places to visit on this beautiful Greek island is the Marine Park, which was created to protect the endangered monk seals, where it is believed there are only 800 still alive. 

This is a great island to visit for anyone looking for a laidback holiday and loves exploring as Alonissos holds many golden sandy beaches, and quiet villages in the countryside and is in close proximity to many other islands so there is always something interesting to do.

8. Kos – £1,054

Kos is one of the most popular islands on Freece famous for its sandy beaches and historic landmarks, with the most famous being the Asklepieion which is an ancient medical centre that was built to honour Asclepius, the god of medicine. 

Thermes Beach is also considered to be one of the most idyllic places in the whole of Greece due to its natural hot springs, so you can have an incredibly relaxing spa day at the beach at no cost al all.

Thassos is a great destination for history lovers as there are many sites built by the ancient Greeks, the Romans and the Byzantine Empire on the island. 

One of the most iconic places to visit is its theatre which was curved into a hillside by the ancient Greeks and is dedicated to the god Dionysus. It is still used for performances and concerts today so you can see a show while also taking in its beautiful scenery and history. 

There are lots of museums, guided tours and archaeological walks to explore that offer a wealth of information so you can learn more about the island’s rich history which spans thousands of years.

Skiathos is a small but lively island known for its watersports, including parasailing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, jet skiing and scuba diving. 

It has an incredibly lush countryside which has footpaths which showcase many interesting places on the island including secluded beaches, old historic monasteries and hills offering breathtaking views of the ocean.

It is the perfect place for someone who wants an adventurous holiday filled with exploring, sightseeing and lots of activities.
