Greenock Glenpark Harrier Simon Okiti will compete for Glasgow Jaguars at the upcoming UK National Athletic League.
He will join fellow local athlete Georgia Morrison at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham in the coming weeks.
Okiti qualified for the 100m and 200m races at the English Track + Field Championships.
The Scottish athlete travelled to Birmingham to compete against the country’s finest runners at the Commonwealth Games Alexander Stadium.
Though a strong headwind hindered fast times during the 100m race on the initial day, Okiti showed promise by persistently chasing the leaders.
A strong second half saw him close on the frontrunners, but he missed advancing to the final rounds by a fraction of a second.
Day two marked his 200m performance, where he stormed a more assertive bend and maintained a consistent pace.
This effort landed him in a qualifying position for the later rounds, marking another sub-22-second execution.
Gleaning from his experiences, Okiti launched from the blocks as the gun signalled the start of the final.
Mirroring his previous round pace, he roared onto the home straight among the nation’s quickest young athletes and just missed out on a spot in the final.
