Hottest UK destination for summer 2024 has beaches, idyllic walks and entertainment galore

Staycations rose in popularity over the pandemic when international travel was ground to a halt, but post-Covid there are still many Britons who enjoy a UK break.

Going on a staycation is often much easier and cheaper than going abroad, and on a good weather weekend, a UK holiday can feel just like sunny Spain. For a hot 2024 summer staycation, new research suggests that Ipswich is the place to be.


“The summer holidays are fast approaching, and Britons are keen to get out in the UK sun and enjoy what the UK has to offer,” said holiday provider Parkdean Resorts.

“With over 264,000 searches for ‘UK Holidays’ in the last month, many Brits are sticking on home turf this summer and with this in mind UK holiday provider, Parkdean Resorts has analysed the average temperature of towns and cities across the UK, to reveal the warmest destinations to visit in the UK this summer.”

Ipswich, Suffolk was crowned the number one warmest destination for a 2024 UK summer holiday, reaching temperatures of 23C in July, 23C in August and 20C in September, making the average summer temperature a very pleasant 22C.

The experts said: “Ipswich in Suffolk is set to be the warmest location in the UK this summer with an average temperature of 22C.

“With the town being home to numerous museums and a rich maritime history, it is an ideal destination to keep the whole family entertained on a summer’s day.”

If you’re looking for a beachy break, take a day trip to Felixstowe Beach – just a 20-minute drive away – or Shingle Street. Southwold and Frinton-on-Sea are also on your doorstep, less than an hour’s drive away.
