An American mum living in the UK has revealed her favourite budget shop.

Posting to TikTok under her family’s account @peachyfamilyuk, Jules, who runs the account with her husband Tom, regularly posts videos with their three children to their 42,000 followers.

A recent video saw them head to popular British budget store B&M, where the entire family purchased an assortment of snacks.

The couple were quick to snap up American staples of Pop Tarts, peanut butter and jam and other sweets.

However, their options became more recognisable to Brits as the video continued – with the family opting for Marmite, Ambrosia custard and angel delight.

Further items included an assortment of sweets such as Maoams, Cadbury fingers, a Galaxy sharing bar and some Monster Munch crisps.

Heading for the drinks section of B&M, the family picked up a multipack of J20, accompanied by Tango, Vimto, Oasis and the Scottish classic of Irn Bru – showing an evident taste for fizzy drinks in the process.

Responding to the family’s large shopping haul in the comments, many Brits joked about the variety of items available, joking: ‘I’ll explain B&M- you go in for washing powder and come out with the entire Zoflora range, 15 candles, face cloths, pamper kit, a lamp and a garden rake. I don’t know how’.

‘Ran into B&M for toilet roll last week and came out with 2 new suitcases, a garden chair, and a curling iron’.

‘The other day I went to B&M for a desk fan and I ended up buying a lazy spa, that is the trap’.

‘It’s the place where your bank balance goes to £0. Too many good things’.

‘A B&M is basically the store with everything’.

It follows another American living in the UK revealing everything others should know about the big city before making it their home.

From the close proximity to European countries to drinking culture and surprisingly nice weather, the content creator shared the reality of living in London.

Listing off all the positives about London, Dys revealed that the city is more affordable in comparison to some US cities.

But saving some money on her weekly grocery shop wasn’t London’s only advantage, according to the content creator.

Acknowledging London’s close proximity and cheap flights to other countries in Europe, the Middle East and more, Dys also added: ‘Sometimes the best thing to do is leave.’

Another upside to UK life for Dys was also being able to ‘feel safe in large crowds and gatherings’.

Even though the American had pointed out some positives bout the UK, her view of the country wasn’t entirely upbeat.

Dys shared that she was left feeling unimpressed by British drinking culture.

‘Drinking is such a core part of culture here,’ she wrote.

‘You have to drink to make friends, progress at work, socialise, etc everything here involves drinking.’

Also slamming London as ‘fake 24 hour city’, the American claimed it is difficult to purchase food after 9pm at night.

Dys also found the capital city to be a very lonely place, quipping how hard it was to foster a ‘warm, friendly or kind’ community in the busy city.

She added: ‘The people, infrastructure and social fabric of London don’t foster much spontaneity one of the many things I miss about the US.’

Also disappointed by the UK’s sweet treat selection, Dys encouraged Americans to appreciate how ‘spoilt for choice’ they are.
