Travel chiefs from many nations have updated their guidance for the UK
India, Australia and other countries have issued travel warnings amid ongoing anti-immigration riots in the UK. Nigeria, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the UAE have also sent out alerts, advising people living in or travelling to the UK to stay away from such demonstrations.
Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued an update on Tuesday, which reads: “Avoid areas where protests are occurring due to the potential for disruption and violence. Monitor the media for information and updates. Follow the instructions of local authorities.”

India has become the latest nation to issue amended guidance for UK travel, with the High Commission of India in London stating it is “closely monitoring the situation”. Its advice continues: “Visitors from India are advised to stay vigilant and exercise due caution while travelling in the UK. It is advisable to follow local news and advisories issued by local security agencies, and to avoid areas where protests are underway.”

On Sunday, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry said: “Malaysians residing in or travelling to the United Kingdom are urged to stay away from protest areas, remain vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by local authorities”. Elsewhere government bosses in the UAE warned travellers could be at risk of the “unstable security situation in various cities across the UK” and the Emirati embassy in London has called on citizens to “exercise the necessary precautions and avoid crowded areas in some cities”.

The Indonesian embassy in London also issued a warning, advising its citizens in the UK to avoid large crowds and to stay vigilant. And the Nigerian Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “Avoid political processions and protest, rallies or marches. Avoid crowded areas large gatherings and be vigilant and self-aware all times”.
