Isle of Barra Distillers reported strong retail sales, with continued success in Waitrose leading to Atlantic Gin being available in 209 stores across the UK.
This month, new listings are being made in Sainsbury’s across Scotland for the independent, family-owned distillery’s Atlantic Gin and Hebridean Vodka.
Founded in 2017 by Katie and Michael Morrison, the husband-and-wife Barra natives wanted to create a future for their family and generations to come and, in doing so, founded Scotland’s most westerly distillery.
Co-founder and Managing Director, Michael Morrison, said, “It’s been great to see sales across the UK and beyond continue to grow – especially within major supermarkets like Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
“Our Atlantic Gin was initially listed in 127 Waitrose stores but due to exceptionally strong sales and our team’s commitment to the listing, we were pleased to discover that we would be stocked in 209 stores across the UK after the end-of-year review.
“As a challenger brand, it’s a massive result and a testament to what we are doing here on Barra.
“It’s an exciting time for Isle of Barra Distillers as we continue to expand production from our island home, allowing us to share the essence of our Hebridean island.
“When my wife Katie and I founded Isle of Barra Distillers, our goal was always to create something that not only we can be proud of but that the wider Barra community can be proud of, giving back to our thriving island home.”
Isle of Barra Distillers produces Atlantic Gin, Hebridean Vodka and Island Dark rum from Castlebay on Barra. Atlantic Gin is distilled using locally hand-harvested Carrageen Seaweed sourced sustainably from the shores surrounding the distillery’s island home.
Earlier this year, Isle of Barra Distillers announced it had raised nearly £1.13m through its share offer. The funds are set to be used to expand the distillers and begin work on its new custom-built single malt whisky and gin distillery.
