When you’re getting ready to go on holiday, making sure you’ve remembered to pack all of your essentials is crucial.
But the process can be a stressful one, especially if you’re in a rush or not sure what to bring.
When this happens, you can end up just throwing things into your bag or suitcase without being properly organised or considering where you’ve actually put them.
And we all know that flights can be a bumpy experience – not to mention your bags being loaded on and off the plane, which can end up wreaking havoc on your belongings.
However, one woman on TikTok who is a very frequent flier says there are a few very simple tips you can do in order to prevent damage on flights and arrive at your destination perfectly organised.
Lifestyle influencer and mum Chantel Mila recently took to TikTok to share these valuable tips, saying that she’s been on 32 flights this year so far – therefore knows a thing or two about packing.
And one of the most important tips she’s learned is how to avoid your makeup smashing or getting damaged during bumpy travels, an issue that is unfortunately all too common.
She says you can stop this from happening by grabbing your powder makeup – whether that’s bronzer, blusher or eyeshadow – and placing a cotton pad into it before shutting the lid over.
This will help to cushion the product and prevent it from breaking, even when your bag is getting thrown around.
Cotton pads can also come to the rescue as a way to keep your clothes smelling fresh too – simply spray them with your favourite perfume and place the pads amongst your luggage, and they’ll act as a deodoriser.
If you struggle with keeping your belongings organised while travelling, Chantel recommends another tip – using hanging organisers for packing and then storing when you get to your hotel.
You can fill these with clothes and fit them snugly in your case, similar to packing cubes. Then, when you get to your accomodation, simply take it out and hang it in the wardrobe.
This keeps everything together, making it very simple to pack and unpack.
Finally, if you like to watch films when you’re travelling but hate having to hold your phone at all times, it could be worth packing your sunglasses in your carry-on.
This is because Chantel says your sunnies can actually double as a handy phone-holder. Simply cross the legs over slightly and flip them so the lenses are facing away from you, and your phone should then fit comfortably in the gap.
In the comments, people thanked Chantel for sharing her tips. One said: “Love the cotton pad in the makeup!”
Another said: “Omg the sunglasses hack! So good.” A third added: “These are all so good.”
