Jake Paul vs Mike Perry Boxing Match And Potential Rematch

Must read

Social media star turned boxer Jake Paul was scheduled to fight Mike Tyson on July 20th. However, this was cancelled when the 57-year-old experienced health issues on a flight regarding an ulcer. So, thankfully that disgraceful fight fell through. Now instead we have Jake Paul vs Mike Perry on July 20th a far better fight and match-up. Perry is a former UFC fighter who has found his calling in BKFC essentially bare-knuckle boxing.

Jake Paul vs Mike Perry

This match up itself is quite compelling as unlike his other opponents Mike Perry is not completely washed up. Mike also has a more boxing-based style so he has somewhat adequate background to go into a boxing match. Perry is also only 32 so can be viewed as actually being in his prime, unlike a 57-year-old Mike Tyson. This is also shown in his success in BKFC on a 5 fight-win streak. Perry has wins over Michael Page, Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez and Thiago Alves all pretty good wins.

The fight will be 8 rounds long and should be interesting. This is a genuine test for Paul who for the most part has fought has washed fighters or cans. Examples include wins over washed: Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Ben Askeren. In those match ups he’s had the advantage in youth, size, athleticism, and skill set. When Paul faced a decent boxer in Tommy Fury he was outboxed and lost.

A Rematch?

In light of Perry actually having a decent chance of winning talks have emerged of a rematch. On Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour Paul expressed his interest in a rematch. Paul said, “I think me and Perry in MMA or bare-knuckle is very interesting”. This is possible depending on how this fight goes however an MMA match or Bareknuckle match favours Perry. So Paul would be fighting at a disadvantage something he’s been generally unwilling to do so far.

A rematch actually happening relies on Perry winning if Paul wins he likely just moves on to the next guy. So it’s on Perry to try and force a rematch by beating Paul and Perry is game. However, it’s possible if Jake loses he may not want a rematch as seen in the aftermath of the Tommy Fury Fight. Also Paul offered Diaz an MMA style rematch however that never amounted to anything.

If Perry does get the win and manages to secure a rematch in MMA or BKFC he should win. He easily has all the advantages in MMA and BKFC being far more experienced and knowledgeable. Jakes only advantage in those fights would be his youth and size but besides that nothing else.

However, nothing is guaranteed so Perry needs to go all out in this fight and go for the win. Most of the MMA community are rooting for Perry and we shall see what happens come July 20th.
