Jet2 has warned British tourists that they could face flight delays due to strike action in France which includes air traffic control workers.
The holiday company said: “We wanted to let you know about strike action, supported by French Air Traffic Control on May 24 to May 30 2024, which may cause delays to flights travelling through French airspace.
“Rest assured, we’ll try to keep any disruption to a minimum. Check-in will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure so please arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and release further information as soon as possible.”
The company asked passengers to keep their contact information up to date and said affected travellers would be told.
Even flights that aren’t travelling to or from France can be affected by air traffic control workers striking.
This is because air traffic control workers also monitor flights that travel over French airspace.
The last time French air traffic control workers went on strike, Ryanair said it was forced to cancel more than 300 flights.
The budget carrier said that 5,000 passengers were impacted by the action in April and called for the EU Commission to protect overflights (flights travelling over French airspace).
The airline’s boss Michael O’Leary has called on the EU to stop action in France from affecting flights travelling over the country’s airspace.
British tourists are advised to stay up to date with the latest information for their flight and leave enough time to travel to the airport.
