There’s plenty of headlines surrounding Rangers as the club appoints Patrick Stewart as CEO and rumours swirl around Philippe Clement.
Rangers have announced the appointment of Stewart following the Aberdeen-born exec’s exit from Manchester United in the summer.
The former Red Devils CEO spent almost 20 years at Old Trafford and Patrick Stewart will need to call on that experience as chaos envelops Rangers.
At the same time the future of Philippe Clement is at the centre of debate with Rangers fans calling for the Belgian manager to be sacked with the club 3rd in the Scottish Premiership.
Now, TalkSPORT and Sky Sports host Jim White has been reacting to both situations and had some interesting things to say with regards the Ibrox hierarchy.
Jim White’s Rangers sources on Patrick Stewart
Jim White has been talking to a well-placed Ibrox source about the appointment of Patrick Stewart as the new Rangers CEO.
Whilst the ex-Man United chief won’t start his job at Ibrox until after December’s Premier Sports Cup Final against Celtic, White insists it’s an appointment which should excite Gers fans.
Rangers have been without a CEO since James Bisgrove left Ibrox in disarray and jumped ship to Saudi Arabia.
With the club in the midst of a delayed Copland Stand development, the Gers relocated to Hampden and have navigated the first half of the season with numerous empty seats in the boardroom.
There’s now an increasing number in the stands of Ibrox.
Jim White insists that the feeling surrounding Patrick Stewart is positive, with the new Rangers CEO a ‘really exciting appointment’.
Taking to X, White said:
”On new Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart, a top club source tells me: ‘He has tremendous breadth of experience at a Premier League club (Manchester United). He is a strong character, Scottish and a really exciting appointment.’”
Jim White shuts down Philippe Clement claims
The comments on Patrick Stewart come after Jim White was reacting to rumours swirling around Rangers manager Philippe Clement.
Chatter suggesting Rangers had sacked Clement after a boardroom meeting began to swirl on social media and picked up a head of steam on online forums.
But the news was quickly shot down with rumours Philippe Clement has been sacked wide of the mark.
Jim White himself was passing judgement on the claims and also suggested that not only is Clement still the manager of Glasgow Rangers, but there had been no secret meeting over the Belgian’s future.
Taking to X, White said:
”No change at Rangers FC despite club being a distant third in the Scottish Premiership. No board meeting and Philippe Clement carries on.”
