Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has slaughtered the Gers team following a devastating 1-0 Scottish Premiership defeat to Kilmarnock.
Rangers put in a shocking performance in Ayrshire, where the team struggled to play with any genuine intensity or create any meaningful chances.
Marley Watkins scored what proved to be a late winner before Kilmarnock got the pipe and slippers out as a Rangers team devoid of leadership and direction never looked like properly threatening Robby McCrorie.
Kris Boyd – who played for both clubs – took aim at Rangers come the final whistle with some choice words for what’s going on at Ibrox.
Kris Boyd slaughters Rangers on Sky Sports
“It’s not been good enough,” Boyd told Sky Sports. “You might be winning games of football (but) Rangers never dominate any game, never.
“There’s no intensity to the play, there’s no sharpness, they don’t create anything, it’s more hope that they’re going to score a goal.
“The substitutions don’t impact games. They are miles off it.
“Everybody thinks, ‘oh here we go he’s having another rant’, it’s the truth. And the sooner people realise that this ain’t working the better.”
‘No surprise’ Rangers blew chance to cut gap
Kris Boyd has also criticised the Rangers team for failing to take advantage of Aberdeen and Celtic dropping points this weekend.
The Scottish Premiership leaders drew 2-2 at Celtic Park with Rangers having the chance to cut the lead at the top to three points after going into the weekend five points behind.
The Gers finish the weekend six points off the Premiership summit.
After losing to Kilmarnock off the back of an abysmal performance, Boyd claims that the result should come as no surprise.
“You got a lifeline yesterday,” said Boyd. “You look at it and you think to yourself, right ‘OK there’s a chance to get yourself back in a title race’.
“It’s not a surprise that result today.
“Kilmarnock are a physical team, they’ll cause you problems. Rangers, there is just nothing.
“You look at Cyriel Dessers, you know it’ll always fall back on the striker when you’re not scoring goals, he’s going to be the one who is criticised.
“He doesn’t really get anything created for him either.
“We speak about Bajrami and Cerny, they might look good, but they don’t create anything.”
