Spain’s top flight football competition, LALIGA has renewed its partnership with Bloomsbury Football to promote junior football in the UK.

Currently, in its third year, LALIGA clubs and Bloomsbury Football will work together to involve around 5,000 kids in London each week in competitions meant to inspire the next generation of football players.

LALIGA will also help to upskill members of the Bloomsbury Football team through training that focuses on promoting football’s good principles and how they can be used in everyday life, as well as using sport as a vehicle for social inclusion. The project’s main goal is to increase access to football, and 45 boys and girls will get financial scholarships to participate in the curriculum.

Keegan Pierce, Director of International Relations at LALIGA, said, “This partnership has already done so much to encourage more players to enter into the Bloomsbury ecosystem, and we are so pleased to be partnering again for the 2024/25 season. With so much growth year on year as well as the support from so many clubs, we hope to continue to give back to our community here in London, while also inspiring young LALIGA fans and increasing the fan engagement with Spanish football.”

Up to 16 LALIGA teams, including Athletic Club Bilbao, Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC, and Valencia CF, to mention a few, will be featured on the schedule this season. For local boys and girls to participate in the initiative, these clubs will supply their jerseys.

Highlighting the partnership’s annual expansion, CVC has also stepped up to provide assistance for the program beginning in 2024–2025 through the CVC Foundation, a network-wide philanthropic initiative.

This season will include two mixed weekend tournaments in two North London venues, up from one in previous seasons, as well as a girls-only competition in partnership with local schools as part of both groups’ continuous commitment to growing the women’s game.

Charlie Hyman, CEO of Bloomsbury, said, “Our shared confidence in the power of football to change young people’s lives makes this partnership thrive. I am delighted to work with LALIGA to continue creating memorable experiences filled with excitement, learning and personal growth. Going forward this season, we will continue to ensure that our sessions are accessible to all, and I strongly believe that we can help make anything possible for these young footballers.”
