Liverpool reportedly join their Premier League rivals in the race to sign England international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

Liverpool have reportedly joined their Premier League rivals in the race to sign Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze.

The 26-year-old is with the England squad preparing for Sunday’s European Championship final against Spain in Berlin.

Eze has played his part in England’s road to the final, having featured as a substitute against Denmark, Slovakia and Switzerland.

The attacker earned his place in Gareth Southgate‘s squad after enjoying a productive Premier League campaign with Palace.

Eze scored 11 goals in 27 top-flight appearances to finish the campaign as Palace’s second-highest scorer behind Frenchman Jean-Philippe Mateta.

He also provided four assists to end the Premier League season with 15 goal contributions to help the Eagles secure a top-half finish.

Those fine displays have led to Eze being linked with a number of top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, according to Football Insider, Liverpool are now set to join their domestic rivals in the race to secure Eze’s signature this summer.

Eze is believed to have a £60m release clause which comes with a number of conditions, including that it has to be activated by a club participating in the Champions League.

The Reds are able to meet that condition after they secured a third-place finish to return to UEFA’s elite club competition following a season in the Europa League.

Palace to battle to keep Eze

Although Eze may have a release in his contract, Oliver Glasner‘s side will do all they can to retain the services of the former Queens Park Rangers man.

The Eagles are reluctant to allow another key player to leave, having recently seen Michael Olise complete a move to Bayern Munich.

Olise ended his three-year stay at Selhurst Park after Palace reached an agreement to sell the Frenchman in a deal worth around £50m.

Palace are also facing a battle to keep hold of another England international, with Marc Guehi likely to reject a new contract amid interest from Man United and Arsenal.
