London Underground chaos as three lines face suspensions or delays

Must read

The London Underground is getting off to a bad start this morning with three lines facing suspension or delays.

The District line is part suspended between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road, with severe delays between Earl’s Court and High Street Kensington and minor delays between Earl’s Court and Wimbledon.

This is while TfL try to fix a signal failure at High Street Kensington

The Piccadilly line is partly closed for the second week in a row between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge due to ‘difficult track conditions’ caused by falling leaves, with passengers asked to use the Metropolitan line instead.

The rest of the line is facing minor delays due to a train shortage.

And the Metropolitan line also has minor delays between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Watford / Chesham / Amersham / Uxbridge due to an earlier signalling problem at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

The rest of the Tube is running a good service – but we’ll keep you updated with the latest.

Controversial screens previously used for advertising at London Euston will now be used to show travel information, it’s been announced.

Euston has been heavily scrutinised recently over concerns about overcrowding and public safety – and this was compounded by the large screens which showed adverts instead of details such as platform numbers or cancellations.

The screens stopped showing adverts back in October, and now Network Rail has announced they will be used for travel information from this week.

Gary Walsh, west coast south route director at Network Rail, said: ‘After listening to our passengers, we’re pleased to launch a trial to display travel information on Euston station’s large screen this week.

‘Our five-point plan is all about making quick and effective improvements to make journeys smoother for everyone and we’re really pleased to be able to deliver this in time for the busy festive travel period.’
