Love is Blind UK fans were left in the lurch just as the much-awaited reunion episode was about to air, due to a technical hiccup that prevented them from watching the live stream on Netflix.
The eagerly awaited special, helmed by power couple Matt and Emma Willis, was scheduled to start streaming precisely at 9pm, but a technical snafu meant viewers faced delays in accessing the stream, sparking outrage among the show’s ardent followers.
The explosive reunion brought together all the couples who tied the knot last September after their blind-dating adventures, to look back on their experiences – with the bombshell news that one pair had already called it quits!
Fans desperate for the latest gossip were left hanging, prompting a flurry of disgruntled posts on social media slamming Netflix for the disruption, with many questioning why they were missing out on their favourite programme.
“Erm why is it not working for me! ! ! ” bemoaned one viewer, while another expressed their frustration: “Love is Blind UK is not working @Netflix it’s 9:03pm, supposed to start at 9pm!”
A third fan sought confirmation on whether the issue was widespread, posting: “‘Well what an anticlimax when the reunion doesn’t appear at 9pm. Is it just us? ” This was followed by another fan’s query: “‘Is the reunion up cos it’s still saying it’s not available.”
Finally, the technical glitch was resolved and viewers were able to tune into the crucial episode – where the fates of the contestants were revealed.
During the show, it emerged that CrossFit gym owner Steven, 37, and his bride Sabrina, 35, had chosen to end their relationship after less than a year together.
The couple initially hit it off brilliantly when the experiment began, displaying palpable chemistry even before their first eye contact. So much so, they were so enamoured with each other that they decided to say “I do” formally at the end of the process, legally binding themselves in matrimony.
However, this grand ceremony marked the beginning of the end for the couple. Despite having “fallen in love”, they soon discovered unexpected aspects about each other that hadn’t been previously discussed.
A TV insider provided insight into the split to MailOnline: “Sabrina and Steven committed to each other on their wedding day last year because they fell in love and hoped they could make it work. But after filming for the show finished, they started to learn things about each other that they hadn’t discussed while dating in the pods.”
“They encountered obstacles they struggled to overcome, like their differing views on starting a family and where to settle down long-term. They remain friends and, having gone through a life-altering experience together, will share a lifelong bond, but their romantic relationship is definitively over.”
During the reunion on Monday night, Sabrina opened up about her feelings, stating: “I don’t feel like you respected me.”
The couple also acknowledged that their respective hometowns were causing issues, as they found it challenging to maintain a long-distance relationship between Belfast and London. This was identified as the primary reason for their decision to separate.
Despite their break-up, it is reported that the pair continue to remain friends.
