Champagne lovers are set for a December delight with the chance to relish in an exquisite seven-course Christmas lunch whilst zipping through the countryside at 70mph aboard one of the world’s most opulent trains.
The Northern Belle, evoking memories of 1930s-era Pullman carriages and a former member of the illustrious Orient Express collection, is scheduled to traverse the UK this festive season.
It promises an encounter reminiscent of the bygone era of luxurious rail journeys, commencing with a glamorous red-carpet reception for its guests.
Christmas celebrations get an upscale twist, with the train setting off from various UK hubs starting late November.
The journey offers departures from cities including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Bristol amongst others, ensuring that no matter your location, there’s a chance to indulge in grandeur and captivating views of the British landscape.
Passengers will enjoy onboard entertainment courtesy of the resident musicians, adding a dash of magic to the trip with performances by a wandering magician showcasing his tricks along the carriages.
Although joining this exclusive voyage isn’t inexpensive – the fare is a substantial £39 – it encompasses both champagne and wine, alongside a sumptuous gourmet meal featuring luxury items like caviar blinis and a selection of premium cheeses, reports the Mirror.
Commenting on the magnificent journey, a spokesperson for the Northern Belle humorously said: “You’d be Christmas crackers to miss it, so it may still be worth checking for late cancellations.
“We like to think the Northern Belle harks back to the golden days of rail travel an era when nothing was too good for the pampered passengers.
“We even lay a red carpet across the station platform before they board and are handed their first glass of champagne.”
Earning acclaims far and wide, the Northern Belle is often celebrated as one of the world’s most prestigious trains, boasting carriages that have graced the iconic Royal Trainrumoured to include one beloved by the late Queen Mother herself.
The esteemed actor Bill Nighy didn’t hold back in his praise, dubbing it “the Grand Dame of luxury travel” after featuring on Channel 5s ‘The Worlds Most Scenic Railway Journeys’.
