A major health and beauty retailer plans to open on Crewe’s main retail park, with the future of its town centre branch now uncertain.

On Wednesday 9 October, Triton Nominee One and Two Limited submitted proposals to Cheshire East Planning on behalf of Superdrug for Unit 6, Grand Junction Retail Park.

Superdrug, which currently operates from The Market Shopping Centre, will take on the former Carpetright unit, vacant since August.

On Wednesday 9 October, Triton Nominee One and Two Limited submitted proposals to Cheshire East Planning on behalf of Superdrug for Unit 6, Grand Junction Retail Park (Cheshire East Planning).

The UK’s second largest health and beauty chain plans external alterations to the front and rear of the retail premises.

Owners of Grand Junction Retail Park, Savills (UK) Limited, submitted a covering letter to Cheshire East Planning on behalf of Superdrug.

The letter reads: “The application seeks planning permission for external alterations to the front and rear elevations of the existing Unit 6.

“The application is the required to meet the requirements of incoming tenant, Superdrug.

“The proposal is minor and non-contentious in nature. It simply seeks to install a single height glazed shopfront to the front elevation of the unit.

“There will be no advert impact on the street scene or any implications to highways or accessibility.

“The surrounding area is entirely commercial in terms of land use and physical characteristics, thus such proposals are considered appropriate to this location.”

Superdrug management within The Market Shopping Centre told Nub News it was aware of the retailer’s latest proposals, but unsure of its affect on the current outlet (Google).

The last date for submitting comments on the application is Friday 8 November, with a target decision date of Wednesday 4 December.
