Man flytipped items behind shopping parade

Must read

A video shared on social media shows a man and a boy removing items from a grey Vauxhall Astra in May before dumping them behind Langley Green Parade in Crawley.

Crawley Borough Council’s community protection and investigation teams traced the man, interviewed him under caution and issued a fixed penalty notice of £400, which was subsequently paid.

Councillor Bob Noyce, cabinet member for environment, sustainability and climate change, said: “This was a brazen attempt to get away with flytipping, despite knowing he was being filmed in the act.

“We have a zero tolerance approach to flytipping and we will continue to investigate incidents and prosecute anyone found guilty of fly-tipping.”

Community protection officers investigate flytipping and work alongside the corporate investigations team to prosecute.

In April, Crawley Borough Council issued warnings after its waste collections were affected by “particularly bad incidents”.

Any flytipping occurrences should be reported on the council’s website.
