Set the tone
Brentford are ready to slash their asking price for Ivan Toney to less than £50million due to a lack of interest.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all made it clear to Brentford that they have no plans to bid for in the England striker.
That leaves Tottenham and West Ham as his most likely suitors.
Brentford had hoped to create an auction for Toney after he returned from an eight-month gambling ban in January and initially invited bids in excess of £80m.
But there were no offers Toney during the winter transfer window and the club have been surprised at the lack interest this summer.
Arsenal are not prioritising signing a striker this summer, Chelsea think Toney is too old and United have signed £36.5m Holland striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
Yor joking
Leny Yoro’s impending arrival at Manchester United has posed questions over fellow centre-back Matthijs De Ligt’s expected arrival.
Lille’s Yoro is poised to sign within 24 hours while a fee with Bayern Munich has yet to be agreed for De Ligt.
And with United also said to be monitoring Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, the Dutchman’s transfer appears from certain.
That’s also because Yoro’s move could take up a sizeable chunk of manager Erik ten Hag’s transfer budget – at around £52million in total.
United front
Erik ten Hag has emphasised the need for more Manchester United arrivals — particularly with added games in the Europa League this season.
He said: “We know, in depth, we need more players.
“With the new format in Europe, you’ll have more games, more intense games, no winter break, a very condensed January.
“You need squad depth. Then it’s more and more about survival of the fittest.”
Man Utd fixtures
Here is the Red Devils’ FULL 2024/25 Prem fixtures list.
Ugarte to do it
Manchester United could try to recruit PSG anchorman Manuel Ugarte on loan.
The Red Devils were tipped to pursue another temporary move for last season’s loanee Sofyan Amrabat.
But GIVEMESPORT reckon Uruguayan Ugarte is now once more a top alternative for what could be a key midfield role alongside Kobbie Mainoo.
Is he Leny good?
Leny Yoro is awaiting to finalise a deal with Manchester United after Lille accepted a £52million offer for the defender.
Fans may wonder how the France U23 star compares to the other Red Devil defenders Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.
Last season for the Ligue 1 side Yoro made 32 appearances for Lille and played a total of 2672 minutes.
This is almost double the amount of minutes Evans, Lindelof and also Varane played.
Yoro’s closest competitor Maguire in game time does not even come close to the defender who during his 1650 minutes of play made 24 tackles, and 25 interceptions with an 83 per cent pass accuracy.
In perspective, the teen made 36 tackles, and 36 interceptions with a 92 per cent pass accuracy.
