Maguire keen to stay… if he’s wanted
Harry Maguire says everything he’s heard suggests he’s part of Manchester United’s future.
The England centre-back rates missing last season’s FA Cup final glory and Euro 2024 as his hardest time in football.
But before that he had battled back to a regular place with United in the second half of last season.
Maguire, 31, told Sky Sports: “Everything I’ve heard and the action I’ve been shown from the club, I’m part of the future.
“It is time to crack on and make this club successful again, challenging for the big trophies. That’s what this club demands.”
And asked if he’d like to stay, he replied: “Unless the club tell me I’m up for sale or I’m not wanted there anymore.”
Manager Erik ten Hag will be in charge for a third campaign – after surviving an end-of-season review.
And Maguire added: “Going into the summer, no-one knew what was happening, but the decision has been made now.
“We’ve got new members of staff with Ruud [van Nistelrooy] and Rene [Hake]. Everyone is looking forward to the season and hopefully we make it a successfully.”
