Marks & Spencer’s £45 party dress is already a Christmas bestseller

Must read

Marks & Spencer and Christmas are as synonymous at this point as Santa Claus and Rudolph; the high-street brand is always our first port of call for everything from festive food and stocking fillers to stylish, affordable partywear.

So, we were very excited when we checked the retailer’s new-in fashion section today and saw that the Christmas clothes are starting to drop, including the sparkliest pair of silver sequin trousers and, most temptingly of all so far, the perfect black velvet dress.

Now, like anyone, we love a Little Black Dress for party season; you just can’t go wrong with this classic. This one is cut to a fun mini length (just add sheer or lace tights if you want more coverage) in a flattering shift shape, with long sleeves to keep you cosy en route to the event. It’s finished with an elegant pearl-trimmed collar which makes this bank-balance-friendly design feel far more expensive than its £45 price tag.

M&S Velvet Collared Mini Column Dress

This Marks & Spencer velvet dress reminds us of the kind of styles Claudia Winkleman likes to wear to present Strictly Come Dancing, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw her in something similar soon (she wore a £99 dress from sustainable label Albaray last weekend).

Or, of course, we may see Claudia in this exact piece, given that the star was recently revealed as the new face of M&S, styling a series of cool looks compiled from the elevated Jaeger line.

If you love the above dress as much as we do, act fast; it’s currently labelled as ‘selling fast’ on the M&S website, and ‘popular’, meaning over 100 people have been looking at it recently. See you by the drinks and nibbles table…
