Tell Us About Nuke From Orbit
Nuke From Orbit protects your digital identity and puts you back in control by limiting the financial and reputational impact of having your smartphone stolen. The perfect defence is an illusion, so when things go wrong, Nuke From Orbit revolutionises mobile security by providing instant invalidation of stolen data, including the cancellation of bank cards, securing digital accounts, and blocking the device SIM in a single action quickly, efficiently and more importantly securely, with minimal fuss.
In a recent survey, our research shows that poor PIN hygiene leads to 62% of phone theft victims in the UK facing further financial loss and data breaches. In a world where mobile phone theft is rising, Nuke From Orbit stands out with its mission to safeguard critical financial accounts and personal identifiable information (PII).
With a mobile phone stolen every six minutes in London alone, the repercussions extend beyond the physical loss of a handset to potential financial, data loss, hacking, and reputational damage. This urgent need for a comprehensive mobile security solution is what Nuke From Orbit aims to address.
We provide the instant invalidation of stolen data via a consumer-friendly app with security at its core. The app will integrate with all the major banks, card providers, mobile networks, and other apps and services.
How did you come up with the idea for the company?
I founded the business after my phone was stolen, and I was powerless to stop thieves from stealing thousands of pounds from my digital wallet. With a background in tech, it seemed ridiculous that there wasn’t a one-and-done way of shutting everything down—not just bank cards and apps, but email, social media, and all the other services and subscriptions living on our phones.
This issue is coming up time and again. We’re all encouraged to put increasing personal data onto our phones, with smartphones becoming central to most ways of life. If they get stolen, it’s tough to protect yourself quickly.
That’s where the idea for Nuke From Orbit came from. We’re a smartphone security platform, a digital panic button that decreases the impact of a security breach when you’re most at risk. Users can immediately shut down access to all personal data via our app. Banking, crypto, health, social media profiles, store accounts, and email are all closed off so that criminals cannot use logins and account information to steal your money or worse.
The introduction of the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PTSI) Act, which came into effect in April, magnifies the rising issue of connected devices and the need for manufacturers and businesses to be accountable for protecting their customer data.
Our consumer research shows that security is failing to keep pace with smartphone usage. Therefore, we at Nuke From Orbit want to work with partners to highlight the rise of smartphone security theft and work together as an industry so that we do everything possible to protect consumers when the worst happens.
How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?
We launched in the summer of 2023 and secured funding by the end of that year. We are currently on track to launch the app to consumers later in the year and plan to launch our partner portal soon, too. Having partners onboard is critical—the more comprehensive our offer, the greater the security we offer to our customers from day one.
We are partnering with financial institutions, mobile network operators, social media networks, De-Fi companies, and service providers like hotels and airlines; effectively, anyone that gives users access to platforms and subscriptions through apps and services.
Our website lets Consumers and businesses sign up for the Nuke from Orbit waiting list. One of the critical parts of expanding our customer base is our community because there is safety in numbers. The more people that have the app, the easier it is for someone to get access to it and shut their accounts down in the event of a theft. We are encouraging users to share the app with their families, friends, and colleagues—basically, their personal networks.
What can we hope to see from Nuke From Orbit in the future?
We have ambitious plans for the future, including a global expansion and collaborations with multiple sectors that provide services accessible via mobile. Our vision is to make our app available to anyone, anywhere in the world, and to work with all sectors to enhance mobile security.
