Meghan Markle and Melania Trump have been branded style twins after they both defied fashion rules and created their own chic style since being thrown into the limelight. Meghan, 43, married into the Royal Family back in 2018 when she tied the knot with Prince Harry.
However, the couple decided to step down as senior working royals and have since moved across the pond to her native, America. They currently reside in Montecito, California, with their two children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lillibet, three.
Since the Duchess of Sussex burst onto the scene, many fans have not been able to keep their eyes off her trendy ensembles. Much like Melania, 54, who will become the First Lady for the second time, the duo love clean and minimal looks.
From the women’s classy business looks and not being afraid to wear black – which was not appropriate for senior royals as the colour is reserved for mourning periods – To their love of luxury high-end designers, donning outfits in monochromatic colours, they seem to share the same fashion DNA.
If you take a look back at some of their finest gowns, the duo seem to favour the cape-sleeve designs. Although Meghan seemed to be the first one to don the look as back in 2019 during a trip to Morocco she wore a bespoke Dior creation when she was pregnant with Archie.
Clearing taking a liking to the stunning ensemble, Melania copied Meghan and headed to Reem Acra.
At the Congressional Ball just months later Melania donned a champagne-coloured dress, that featured beaded sleeves, and still to this day marks a key piece in their wardrobes.
It has been noted that they are not shy when it comes to making an entrance and do not mind when all eyes are on them.
In the past when they have attended glitzy balls and galas the ladies seem to love the colour red.
In 2021 the president and his wife flew over on a state visit to the UK. Melania opted for a rouge cape gown for a Winfield House dinner by Meghan’s go-to designer Givenchy.
The fashion house designed her wedding dress and a selection of other garments over the years. A year later, at the Mountbatten Music Festival when completing their farewell tour of the UK, Meghan looked almost identical to Melania. The Duchess was seen wearing a Safiyaa frock with matching cape sleeves.
Back in 2018, Meghan became a trendsetter when she wore a trench-style dress that cinched her in at the waist. It was created by an ethical Canadian brand House of Nonie.
She wore it when visiting the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition, pairing it with a pair of pale pump stilettos and a clutch.
In 2020 when Trump was still in office, Melania went for a very similar look when she attended the White House National Day of Prayer service in the Rose Garden.
She turned the heads of many when she bared her arms and stunned in a Dior sleeveless khaki-hued trench dress with delicate button detail.
