The car was pulled over by Merseyside Police near a shopping centre
Two men were arrested after what police officers found inside a car. Merseyside Police stopped a Ford S-Max on Oliver Street East in Birkenhead at around 12.50am today, Friday, December 13, close to the Pyramids shopping centre.
A search of the car was carried out and two balaclavas, a pair of gloves, bolt cutters, plyers and a pallet knife were recovered. A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and without insurance.
An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft. Both men are currently in custody as enquiries continue. The arrests comes as part of Merseyside Police’s Operation Shepherd.
