Microsoft services are reportedly facing another outage affecting Azure and Microsoft 365. The company said it was investigating the issue.
Users are complaining they cannot access Outlook – home to email accounts and calendars. This comes following a major global outage less than two weeks ago.
Microsoft 365 Status said on X: “We’re currently investigating access issues and degraded performance with multiple Microsoft 365 services and features. More information can be found under MO842351 in the admin centre.”
The company added on its website: “Users may be unable to access some Microsoft 365 services. Users who can access the impacted Microsoft 365 services may experience latency or degraded feature performance.
“Impacted services include, but are not limited to: Microsoft 365 admin centre, Intune, Entra and Power Platform.
“We’re analyzing [sic] traffic patterns within a section of a networking infrastructure to assist our investigations. Additionally, we’re reviewing mitigation options, including potential failovers, to provide relief.”
Various services appear to have been affected in the UK and Europe, including some hospitals. Benenden Hospital in Kent took to X to confirm that it had been hit by the IT outage, writing: “Due to a Microsoft outage across Europe, patients may experience issues logging into My Patient Hub. Please check back for updates. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
According to tech outlet bleepingcomputer.com, the company claims only users in Europe are affected, however, it is conducting a global investigation.
On the Azure status page, the company wrote: “We are investigating reports of issues connecting to Microsoft services globally. Customers may experience timeouts connecting to Azure services.
“We have multiple engineering teams engaged to diagnose and resolve the issue. More details will be provided as soon as possible.”
Despite the claim that only European users have been impacted, a Canadian college has taken to social media to say it is experiencing issues related to the outage.
Sheridan College wrote on X: “Bruins, we are currently experiencing issues with the Sheridan website due to a global Microsoft Azure outage. Our team is in contact with Microsoft and working diligently to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Less than two weeks ago the tech giant suffered a similar outage. The Microsoft outage on July 19 sparked travel chaos as flights around the world were grounded and cancelled.
Banks, supermarkets and other key services were also struck down by the tech failure.
Even news outlets like Sky suffered at the hands of the Microsoft outage, as well as the NHS and British rail operators.
