The British billionaire Mike Lynch and his daughter are still missing along with Jonathan Bloomer the chairman of Morgan Stanley.
Bloomer’s wife and Chris Morvillo who are solicitors at Clifford Chance are also missing after the superyacht capsized on Monday.
Morvillo was the solicitor who worked on Lynch’s fraud trial in the US and the British tech billionaire’s co-defendant Stephen Chamberlain who was the former vice president of the finance company Autonomy was killed days before by a car whilst out running.
Gary Lincenberg, his lawyer, said in a statement: “Our dear client and friend Steve Chamberlain was fatally struck by a car on Saturday while out running.
“He was a courageous man with unparalleled integrity. We deeply miss him.
“Steve fought successfully to clear his good name at trial earlier this year, and his good name now lives on through his wonderful family.”
Bloomer is also the non-executive chairman of insurance group Hiscox and the Financial Times reported that he was the defence witness for Lynch.
The captain of the yacht, James Catfield who was rescued said that “we didn’t see it coming,” Italian news outlet La Repubblica reported.
They were all on the yacht celebrating the successful trial and Morvillo who worked on Lynch’s trial who is a partner at the US branch of Clifford Chance posted on LinkedIn a post before the Bayesian sunk.
Morvillo thanked those who helped with the fraud trial, the end of his post reads, “And, finally, a huge thank you to my patient and incredible wife, Neda Morvillo, and my two strong, brilliant, and beautiful daughters, Sabrina Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo.
“None of this would have been possible without your love and support. I am so glad to be home. And they all lived happily ever after….”
A spokesman for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said, “We are in contact with the local authorities following an incident in Sicily, and stand ready to provide consular support to British nationals affected.”
